One month

July 15, 2009

The clock is slowly approaching midnight.  The house is quiet as all are asleep.  I waver between wanting to go to sleep myself and wanting to get a post written.  I feel like it has been a long time since I have "checked in" and so I am going to forgo the early bedtime tonight.  In an effort to keep this post somewhat condensed I will try to summarize our past month with our highlights.

We are now at Quinten's one month milestone.  Overall we in the Ledeboer house would give this last month a "Two thumbs up, way up!!" rating.  What an amazing blessing it is to approach Quinten's one month milestone and have it be a celebration of his life thus far rather than a sad reminder of a life now gone as it was for Sawyer.  We simply cannot escape the consistent reminder of how great a blessing it is to have a living baby in our home.  Trent and I talk about the healing in our hearts that Quinten has brought but we also see it in our kids.  Hunter and Ashlyn simply pour out their love on him in generous amounts and it is so beautiful to see.

On the fourth of July last year I recall having a photo taken of Trent and I.  I remember enjoying the celebration of the day but also having the constant reminder in my heart of our pain.  This year felt so different, so much better.

Trent's parents have been out from MN to visit for the last three weeks.  They are amazingly helpful and have been putting in a lot of time in our basement to help us get closer to finishing it off.  Trent has been getting up early (as he normally does) to work and then after work he begins helping his parents in our basement or outside as we have been also working to get the yard ready for seeding this coming weekend (yeah, a LAWN)!!!!  Needless to say there has been a lot of work and a lot of progress being made around here but it has also been quite busy and I have been adapting to our new routine with the kids and Quinten.

Overall Quinten is amazing, he is laid back and easy going and such a great baby.  He does seem to have a lot of gas which can make him uncomfortable every few hours and he gets hiccups DAILY poor kid:)!  Below is a photo from his first bath LOL (he liked it:)!

This week Hunter and Ashlyn are attending Vacation Bible School at our church and Q and I are helping out in the nursery (Q is a super big helper:).  It has been a new challenge to have everyone ready to head out the door by 7:45 AM but so far my mother-in-law has been able to help which has been really great!

About 3 weeks ago we were beyond blessed to have a photographer come over and gift us with some amazing photos.  We chose to incorporate Sawyer's "S" blanket into many of the photos as a way to remember him.  I have been posting the photos on my facebook page but I haven't had a chance to share them here yet.  I will post a few below but to see the entire album of amazing photos, click here :) !

When I look at this photo below, I see so much of both Hunter and Sawyer in Quinten's sweet face.
