Homemade Ice Cream

August 09, 2010

I think it is funny that about a week ago I told you I wouldn’t be blogging as much while while I work on my manuscript. Since that time I have been posting more than ever!

I will make this one quick so I can get back to work. . .

I have been enjoying a Root Bear Float in the evenings lately.  Tonight however I realized we were out of vanilla ice cream.  Not to be defeated, I decided to make some.  Below is the recipe I used.  I topped mine with fresh raspberries and skipped the Root Bear tonight–so yummy!

This is my view in front of my computer:), back to work for me!

Vanilla Ice Cream:
1 cup 1/2 & 1/2 (using raw milk you can use half milk and half cream)
1/2 cup sugar (I often use agave nectar, not quite a 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup dry milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups ice cubes

Place all ingredients in blender (I use my VitaMix and it works AWESOME) turn quickly from 1 to 10.  In about 30-60 seconds (if you are not using a VitaMix your timing might vary a bit) you will hear the motor sound change and mounds will form in the mixture.  Stop machine.  Do not overmix or melting will occur.  Serve right away.  Enjoy!
