Traveling with your baby is convenient. This carrier is unique in that its design is non-bulky, portable and easy to use. Slide the carrier around your torso, and your baby slips in or out in seconds--no need to tie, buckle, or adjust. When you are finished using the carrier it can be easily folded up and takes up a SMALL amount of room in your purse or diaper bag--or you can even just keep it on!
Secure. The shape of this sling has a built in curve that keeps your baby secure without you holding on.
Cooler. Many other carriers are like quilts with extra padding or fabric. This can become very hot. This carrier does not have any extra fabric or padding-less is more!
Versatile. Due to the simplicity of this carrier, it can be used in many positions and worn comfortably for longer periods of time. Carry your baby on your front, side or back. After four months of age, your baby can ride in many positions including straddling your hip. You can also use this sling to carry twins (you can email me to request a photo of this) or for pets! The detailed instructions that come with your sling provide all the information you will need on the various carrying positions.
High Quality. The 100% cotton fabric used for this sling was selected for durability and each product is constructed to last through many babies. Every sling is handcrafted to professional standards by mothers working in their homes and inspected for quality.
Ideal Support for newborns. This carrier supports your babies' spine in the fetal position. This is ideal until your baby can sit up (weight on the tailbone before that time can cause spine problems). Babies can see their parents face and look out into the world.
Gentle on your back and shoulders. Endorsed by chiropractors, this carrier provides broad weight distribution from your shoulder to your hips and aligns your baby's center of gravity as close to your body as possible. There are no buckles, belts, clips or rings to pinch or rub you. The wide shoulder strap will not dig or cut, as narrow straps do.
Bonding. Because this carrier is so convenient and easy to use, you spend more time in close physical contact with your baby. This loving contact fosters parent-child bonding and promotes happy, health child development.
Privacy for nursing. The ample fabric allows for comfortable and private nursing at home or out in public.
Recommended. Doctors, nurses, birth educators, midwives, chiropractor, doulas, lactation consultants and parents themselves love and endorse this product!

Choose Your Size (measure above bust) Chest Size: male or female
In addition to this measurement several factors are taken into consideration when determining size, especially for those of you measuring on the border between sizes. Please consider the following:
Where are you in your pregnancy or how old is your baby? If you are in the last few weeks of your pregnancy or have a newborn you may need to drop an inch or so off of your above the bust chest measurement to compensate for expected weight loss.
Your height. This affects how long the carrier will be on your torso. Depending on torso length Very tall people can wear more than one size. Very short people may need to go smaller.
Your pre-pregnancy weight. This affects how you will bring the carrier up on your torso by filling out the carrier width wise. Also, do you carry most of your body weight up top or on the lower part of your body?
Do you have broad or narrow shoulders? If you have broad shoulders or a big bust or if you are dad with a big chest you might fill the carrier up a little more width wise. People with narrow shoulders may want to lean toward a smaller size.
Do you have a long or short torso? If you have a short torso you may need a smaller carrier. If you have a long torso you may have more options.
Fitted t-shirt size. Carrier size generally corresponds to your normal pre-pregnancy fitted t-shirt size in combination with the other factors mentioned above.
Q: Is there a weight limit? A: Our baby carrier has a suggested weight limit of 35 pounds. Toddlers are usually 2 to 4 years old when they weigh 35 pounds and can be carried in a hip straddle position. The carrier works great for babies and toddlers, for older babies, put the seam on the hip and put baby’s legs on either side of your body, then slip the baby’s legs into the carrier, pull carrier up to center of babies back. For toddlers you can hold the child on your hip then slip the carrier on and over both of you, then slip under baby’s bottom to just under the back of the knees and up around her back or have her just slip into the carrier.
Q: Can I use the carrier right away with my new born? A: Yes, the carrier is designed to be used from infancy up to 35lbs. Because little babies like to be able to peek out of the carrier you can use our specially designed infant support pillow inside which supports the baby’s spine and allows baby to peek out. For smaller babies the pillow adds extra support and holds them up higher. The pillow also helps babies straighten out more, otherwise they tend to curl up in a natural fetal Position. You can also try using a towel, small pillow or anything soft that he will not get tangled in to prop him up higher, while also opening up the space to create more room for his legs. The infant support pillow is used generally until the baby can hold his or her head up on her own.
Q: Can I use the carrier with a preemie? A: Premature babies can be contact-carried right away with a New Native® Baby Carrier. Please check with your doctor for contraindications and proper positioning in response to certain health complications. Many parents choose to purchase our infant support pillow to help with positioning. The infant support pillow supports the baby’s spine and helps the baby to peek out of the carrier more easily.
Q: How many months can I expect to use the infant support pillow? A:The infant support pillow can be useful until your baby is around 5 months old and able to hold his head up by himself and sit up on his own. The length of use also depends on how your baby carrier fits you. If your carrier is fitting on the high and tight side, the pillow may lift your baby up too high in the carrier. If the carrier hangs lower down on your torso it is more likely that there will be room for both your baby and the pillow inside the carrier. In sizing the carrier, the best range for it to hang with the baby in it is when the bottom of the carrier is no higher than your belly button and no lower than the bend where your leg and hip meet. If your carrier is towards the lower end of this range the pillow can be useful. A folded towel can also be used from your baby’s bottom up to the back of his head. You may wish to try that first before buying the pillow.
Q: Can the carrier be used with twins? A: Usually people with twins get two carriers, one for each baby. This is very comfortable for the parent when wearing both babies because each baby can be worn on opposite sides distributing the weight in a very balanced fashion. When the babies are new they can be worn together in the same carrier. The babies can be worn in one carrier for approximately four months or until their weight combined approaches the recommended weight limit of 35lbs.
Q: Why is the carrier non adjustable? A: Our carrier is non adjustable so it will be comfortable for the parent and safe for the baby. Our carrier is more comfortable because there are no buckles or rings to cut into your shoulder and its cooler in the summer time since there isn’t a bunch of extra fabric and padding to get in the way. We believe our carrier is safer and more secure for your baby since there are no buckles to slip and be readjusted. Our affordable prices allow each parent to have the size that works best.
Q: Do people need to get a second carrier for when the baby gets bigger? A: Most people only need one carrier from infancy up to 35lbs. However, some parents use more than one size for versatility with different carrier positions. The cradle position can be worn with a larger carrier especially with a bigger baby, and a smaller carrier is used to secure an older baby on your hip in an upright position.
Q: How do I breast feed my baby in the New Native® Baby Carrier? A: Line the babies head and face up to the breast you wish to nurse your baby with. Next, pull your shirt up and pull the carrier down on the side closest to you and support the baby’s head with your hand or elbow. Lift your baby to your breast. Pull the outside fabric of the carrier up if you wish to be discreet. For an older baby that can sit up on his or her own you may not need to support their head with your elbow or hand.
Q: Is there a way or trick to breastfeed on both breasts when using the sling? A: To nurse your baby on both sides: When your baby is placed with baby’s head on your left side with the carrier over your left shoulder you can hook your baby up to your left breast in the cradle hold. Support the baby’s head and body with your left hand and arm. To nurse on the right side, lift your baby’s weight with your left hand, grip the carrier with your right hand and slide the carrier around to your right until the baby’s head is in position to nurse on your right breast in the football hold position. Support your baby’s head with your right hand and body with your arm. You can also have the carrier on your right shoulder and do the same thing in the opposite direction. Please call if you need more help with this.
Q: Can my husband and I both wear the same carrier? A: Because body dimensions vary greatly from person to person, most parents should be fitted for his or her own carrier. Occasionally some couples with a similar above the bust chest measurement can share the same carrier.
Q: Can people with back problems wear your carrier? A: Many people with back problems have used our carrier successfully because our carrier distributes the weight evenly from shoulder to hip. The carrier strap which spreads across the parent’s shoulder is ten inches wide and covers a broad area across the shoulder. If the carrier is fitted correctly and the baby is hanging in the center of the parent’s body the carrier should feel very comfortable. Our carrier is contraindicated for certain people with neck or shoulder injuries and should not be used.
Nancy Main started New Native® in 1992 with the goal of providing a tool to promote happy, healthy and harmonious parenting relationships. When babies are worn close to their care-giver, they feel more secure. This improves bonding and alleviates conflict. By instilling a sense of belonging and putting parents and children at ease, the New Native Baby Carrier was designed to contribute to the well being of the world community, one family at a time.
I ordered this carrier hoping to use it as a newborn carrier. I didn't use it with her much as a newborn as I preferred the moby type wrap. You need to use an insert with this with a newborn and I wasn't comfortable with that. My daughter is just shy of 6 months old and this is by far her preferred carrier. She loves this much more than my becca carrier since she can face outwards. I also think she likes the absence of buckles. It is easy to transfer her sleeping with this wrap as well. I am so thankful my midwife recommended this carrier. The customer service is excellent too. I returned my first carrier as it was too large and they helped me get the right size and shipped it quickly. Absolutely the best!

I had a Moby wrap but thought it was too warm (I'm from south Texas) so I was looking for something cooler and easier to put on and take off. This wrap is great and I love how I can take the carrier off with baby inside and place in the car carrier. Great purchase, am going to purchase one for my pregnant sister!

Giving as a gift
I used one for my kids who are now grown; I loved it! Can't wait to get this one to my niece and my great-nephew. The only thing, is that I ordered cocoa brown but received olive green. She said she was good with that, so I won't be sending it back, but I was a bit disappointed.

Can't wait to use it!
I was looking for a baby carrier that would allow me to carry my newborn around the house while looking after my other two children. I have a Boba baby carrier which I love but this one seems to allow the baby to snooze and feed in a natural position. I have a few more weeks before my baby arrives but I've been trying it out and can see its very easy to put on and take off. It is very soft and fantastic quality.

Most Comfortable Carrier
13 years ago I picked up this baby carrier on impulse. i was going on a trip with my daughter and new granddaughter. This carrier was the most comfortable I had ever used (for me and the baby). The baby even "requested" her carrier one day. She had gotten a bit fussy and I handed her over to mom. That stopped her fussing but she turned toward me and pointed at her carrier. I gave mine to my daughter after that day and she used it for her next child too. I just bought a new one for another daughter and a new baby (on the way). She remembered how comfortable it was and requested a carrier like this for her baby shower gift.
