Use the size of your nursing bra as a guide. For example, if you are wearing a nursing bra that is a 34-C, you would wear a Medium in our bras. If you are the far edge of both the band size and the cup size (i.e. 36-D), you should go to the next size up (in the case of 36-D, you should choose a Large).
 Order by your chest size: S (32-34) M (34-36) L (38-40) XL (42-44) XXL (46-48)
Internet Message Board: "…there's a hands-free bustier on the market. It zips up the front, right over your nursing bra and is quite elastic so holds the pump in place nice and tight. It almost seemed as if I was even getting more suction with the bustier on today! …I'm just so excited that my hands can now be free to do other things for that 10-15 minute pumping time!"
"I have these too. …it is soooo soft. I love the fabric."
"I got the bustier since is zips up right over my nursing bra. …- hands free pumping is heaven!"
"I'm with you - had mine for three days now and can't believe I ever tried pumping without it!!!
"I stopped at the lactation consultant to get another nursing bra and they had a new hands-free device called the Easy Expression Halter. I bought one and have been using it, and it is wonderful! … I can sit at my computer and work away, almost forgetting that I am pumping."
"Sorry to shout, but I got my hands free halter today and I LOVE IT!! Now I can work and pump. YAY!! "
"I use the Easy Expressions hands free bustier, and boy I'm good to go!! I love it. I can talk on the phone, hold (my son), read, write, whatever is needed. It's awesome."
"…I bought one of these things (it looks like a strapless bra with a zipper in the middle and strategically placed holes for the horns), and it works great! I use it every single day."
"I pump hands free only now. It is the only way I can get it done. I swear by the Easy Expression Bustier … It is a true God send! I can't say enough about it. I now have several and they work better than anything I have tried, and I think I have tried them all!"
From Busy New Moms: "I love the halter! I need more! I've been singing the praises of it to anyone who will listen."
"My friend saw an ad in a Bay Area magazine & checked out your site & then forwarded it to me since we had been talking about how we wished there was a hands-free method of pumping. So far I'm quite happy & feel much more productive! (I'm pumping as I type!) I'm going to share your site with another friend who is also looking for a hands free method. I know a lot of people would be interested in this product!"
"Love your product-it makes my life as a new mom easier. I'd like to order another."
"I bought on of your products a few months ago and finally started using it and I love it! I love being hands-free when I pump and I don't have to worry about all those rubber bands! I am well endowed (40H) and it works great for me! Thanks so much for a great product!"
From Working Moms: "I just wanted you to know that I received my halter today and absolutely LOVE it! Even though I have a double pump, I had been single pumping because I hated having to sit with a hand on each horn and seemed to always make a mess. I double pumped this afternoon using the halter and it was SO easy and I was able to get 2 oz. more than I normally get! That means SO much to me because I was down to 12 oz. in the freezer and thought I would need to start supplementing with formula soon even though I was hoping to give my baby only breastmilk until 1 year (he's 5 months old now). I can hardly wait to see how I'll do when pumping at work on Wednesday! I'll be sure to post good things about the halter to every breastfeeding/pumping related message board that I visit. If you ever need someone to sing your praises here in the Dallas area, please let me know!"
"…your halter has kept me reasonably sane and has allowed me to maintain the baby, job & social activities. Without it, I'd be miserable."
From a Mother of Twins: "I've been using the Easy Expression Halter now for a couple of days and I have to say that I love it! It is so much nicer to be able to multi-task while pumping! Finally, I can get some thank-you notes written! The large is working out fine, too. I've told a bunch of my cyber buddies (also moms to twins) about the bra - hopefully, they'll also become happy customers! Thanks!"

Gretchen Penney, InventorThey say necessity is the mother of all invention. Well, Gretchen Penny was just trying to be a good mom when she came up with the idea for the Easy Expression Hands-Free Pumping Bra. After the birth of her first son, she began using an electric breast pump and was frustrated with the difficulty and time commitment involved in the pumping process. At that time, she lived in Dallas, Texas, and worked for American Airlines. About two weeks before she was scheduled to go back to work, Gretchen started practicing with the pump and was discouraged when she realized how long the process would take. She knew this was not going to fit into her work schedule.
Thankfully, Gretchen is not the kind of person who gives up easily. She was determined to provide the great gift of health to her baby only breast milk can supply. Because she has always enjoyed sewing, Gretchen went to the local fabric store, bought several kinds of stretchy materials and began to experiment. She developed the original design for herself in order to make the process easier, faster and more discreet. But Gretchen quickly discovered a lot of interest from other new working mothers.
Working at American Airlines headquarters meant that she was able to share a wonderful pump room with other mothers at her office. Soon after they found out about her handsfree bra, they asked her to make the bras for them. After doing this for a while, Gretchen’s husband suggested she apply for a patent and then start selling them. She received that patent in 1999.
She moved to Houston in 2000. In 2001 she left a job with an internet start-up and started working on her business, Easy Expression Products, full-time. Gretchen started with just the Halter-style at first. Then, in March of 2002, the Easy Expression Bustier was introduced, and it soon became the best-selling product. Like most entrepreneurs, Gretchen started running her business from home. She worked from her living room until March of 2007, when Easy Expression finally outgrew her house. Gretchen now has offices a few blocks from her home, and all the manufacturing is done by a local sewing company in Houston.
Gretchen is proud to say that her products are made in the U.S.A. Although she’s often asked why she doesn’t move her production to China or elsewhere, she chooses to keep her business here. Gretchen greatly values the relationships she has with her American suppliers, especially the sewing company. It is also a woman-owned business. It has grown along side Easy Expression, and Gretchen is excited to share her success. Share this great find with another Mom |
