Babies can be placed in two positions:
- The "sitting" position where only the head needs to be supported where you have one hand free to bathe and comfort your baby.
- The "floating" position where you have one hand under your baby's chin and the other at the back of the head or both hands under your baby's armpits.

In 1993, Anita Belderok's son Dion was born. In Holland we do have a lot of homebirths. To help parents out the government supplies you with a home carer, who helps you and learns you to take care of your newborn for the first 8 days in case of a homebirth.
Although Anita and her husband had a baby-bath with stand ready for use, the home carer used to her surprise a normal household bucket to bathe the baby in. The home carer explained that this was common practice among them, as babies liked it better.
So when the home carer left Anita started to use her own bath. Soon her son became very unsettled and started to cry for hours a day. At a loss Ania called her midwife, who advised her to start using the bucket again to settle the baby.
Although this was an eye-opener for Anita, she was even more surprised that if something was evidently so beneficial for the baby, nobody had made a special product for this way of bathing. So when a contest was held for Holland Best Idea of the Year, she put in her idea for a specially designed baby bucket, against her husbands skepticism, and won first prize, which would entitle her to help form the organization to turn her idea into a product.
