Is there anything quite as sweet as a baby’s little hands and feet? We nuzzle them. Kiss them. And now, there’s a way to preserve them forever in a beautifully detailed glass keepsake from Pinkies & Piggies.
Created through a proprietary process developed by artist Rachel Nixon, Pinkies & Piggies’ Glass Keepsakes make wonderful gifts for baby showers, new parents, and grandparents. And they’re a unique way for you to capture forever the memory of those tiny fingers and toes.
Each keepsake is handmade from start to finish and etched with the exclusive P&P logo. There's also space to etch baby's name and date of birth or birth weight. If you wish, you may opt to have your keepsake crafted so you can hang your keepsake where you'll enjoy it every day.

Contents of a Pinkies & Piggies Take-Home Impression Kit:

The following instructions are included with each Take-Home Impression Kit:

Step 1: Open the package, remove the container of nontoxic* modeling compound, and take the lid off the container.
Step 2: Press either a little hand or a little foot in the modeling compound. Make sure the impression is deep and evenly distributed in the compound. Tip: you may want to have another adult distract the baby while taking the impression.
Step 3: Examine the impression. What you see is what you’ll get in your glass keepsake—right down to each tiny line of the hand or foot. If you don’t like what you see, simply roll the modeling compound into a ball and flatten. You can do this repeatedly until you get an impression you like. Once you do, be careful not to touch the impression.
Step 4: Put the lid on the container and place it in the plastic bag provided. Seal the bag carefully so the compound doesn’t dry out; the bag must be airtight.
Step 5: Complete the order form that came in the Take-Home Impression Kit. Please print. Here you will do the following:
- Select from three glass colors: • Clear • Blue • Pink
- Print what you want on your glass keepsake
- Provide the address you want the keepsake shipped to
- Indicate if you want the keepsake made for hanging*
*if box is not checked, keepsake will not be made for hanging
Step 6: Using the paper shred provided to cushion it, place the sealed plastic bag in the Take-Home Impression Kit box, along with the order form. Seal the box, then write your return address (FROM) on the mailing label that’s already placed on the box.
Step 7: Ship the box using the carrier of your choice. You’re responsible for the shipping, which runs around $4.00. You will be sent an email when the company receives your print.
Step 8: Wait patiently 3 to 4 weeks for your Pinkies & Piggies keepsake to arrive! (the company pays to ship it to you.)
Frequently Asked Questions:
Is there a limit to the size of the hand- or footprint I can have transformed into a Pinkies & Piggies glass keepsake?
Yes. The container of modeling compound in the Pinkies & Piggies Take-Home Impression Kit is 5 inches in diameter, and the hand or foot must lie flat in it to make the impression. The longest measurement of the hand or foot must be under 5 inches.
Is there an ideal age to have a Pinkies & Piggies glass keepsake made?
That’s up to you, but we believe the younger, the better. That way, you capture baby’s tiny hand- or footprints as soon as possible.
How many hand- and/or footprints can be made with one Take-Home Impression Kit?
One print per Take-Home Impression Kit. However, we keep your impression on file for one year so you can reorder exact duplicates of your keepsake.
Is the kit messy?
No. Unlike many handprint kits, Pinkies & Piggies doesn’t require messy mixing and cleanup!
Will the modeling compound be rough on my baby’s skin?
No. Pinkies & Piggies uses a soft, non-toxic modeling compound.
Can I order duplicates of the keepsake?
Yes. We keep your impression for one year. When we send you your glass keepsake, we send a Reorder Form with it. Each duplicate costs $40.
How will the child’s name be placed on the keepsake?
Your child’s name will be etched on the back of the keepsake, where it won’t affect the delicate hand- or footprint that’s been captured in glass.
Do I have to have the child’s name on the keepsake? Can I have something else etched on it?
You can have up to 20 letters/numbers etched on the keepsake. There’s a place on the order form where you indicate what you want. Many people have us etch their child’s first name and their date of birth, or the date the print was taken.

After giving birth to my first child, Esther, in 2004, I searched for a special way to capture forever the beauty of her precious little hands and feet.
I struck upon the idea of casting her hands and footprints in glass, as I am an artist, and glass is my favorite medium. It took a few tries, but before long, I had created exact replicas of Esther’s hands and feet and etched each with her name and birth date.
Everyone who saw them was amazed by their incredible level of detail, down to the tiniest lines. Soon, people were asking me to create glass keepsakes for their babies—and the requests just kept on coming. In 2005, I dubbed my creations Pinkies & Piggies™ and began producing them from my studio, Whitehouse Glass, which is located in the little town of Whitehouse, Ohio.
