Whats cookin’?

I haven’t been blogging much lately but I have been working on my manuscript a lot in the evening and cooking a lot during the day. Here are a few of the things that have come out of my kitchen lately:
Butternut Squash Muffins with a Frosty Top (at the recommendation of a blog reader). I loved them (frosting and all). The kids loved the muffins but were not excited about the frosting (if you think that seems strange, I do too).
Layered Zucchini Quiche. This is a family favorite for the summer months when both the zucchinis and tomatoes are ripe in the garden. I made this out of our garden bounty and really felt like Laura Inglis would be proud of me. The entire family (including Quinten and except for Ashlyn) loves this dish. I even took a video to show how much Quinten enjoyed eating it but in retrospect I realized that it is likely really only cute to me as his mom so I will simply enjoy it in the quiet of my own home:).
Baking bread. Ashlyn and Hunter love getting in on the act when it is time to punch the dough down.
Picking more strawberries
and drying them, pureeing them and freezing them. My friend Kira sent me a link to 4 good recipies for freezing strawberries and I just had to try each one!
This Saturday I am getting my peaches (100 pounds) and I can’t wait to put them up (well actually knowing the work ahead to put them up makes me second guess that statement) but I really am excited to have so many tree ripe peaches in the house!

The images are simply missing *sigh*. Apparently you can’t update blogs without any glitches. This is a glitch that we are still working on, sorry.
