school and bread

September 14, 2011

School started last week and my two oldest are now spending their days in scholarly bliss.  And why shouldn’t they, on the first day, the school had a big schedule of outdoor water games to welcome the kids back!  Ashlyn (who is now in Kindergarten and going to school for the first time) is especially L-O-V-I-N-G every minute of it.

Mommy and daddy are getting used to the new routine as well as master chauffeurs (I had to look up how to spell that word!).  Trent takes all the kids to school in the morning, I pick Ashlyn up in the mid-afternoon and then Trent gets Hunter in the late afternoon.

(I think I should have taken a few more first-day photos.  Ashlyn really was excited but the strap in the back of her backpack–which I got for $0.50 at a yard sale by the way–was twisted an causing her this frustration look)

I am enjoying hearing all the stories about their day and seeing how excited they are when they come home.  I am also having fun spending more one-on-one time with Quinten and Tanner while the older two are in school.

Quinten likes the car rides.  His favorite activity is to point at all the cars and trucks that we are passing and call out their colors, loudly, and wait for us to repeat his phrases back to him.

I discovered a local drive-through sandwich place that only charges $0.50 for day-old bread on one of my recent drives.  What a good deal I thought.  That proved to be . . . messy.

I know many of you have little ones (or not so little ones) starting school as well.  From one mama to another: welcome to the start of another year!
