Per the directives from the APA and other credible resources, BinkiBear recommends using a transitional object (a teddy bear, etc) in the crib only AFTER baby has shown the ability to remove breathing hazards from their face, i.e. a blanket. This usually occurs around 3 months of age. Another sign of readiness for a transitional object is the ability to roll over. BinkiBear is designed to be safe, however nothing replaces the instinct of a parent or caregiver. You are the best judge of safety for your baby, based on your intimate knowledge of your precious bundle of joy! If you are uncomfortable, try BinkiBear in the car or stroller before deciding to introduce BinkiBear in the crib. Consult your pediatrician for more information about the use of transitional objects and pacifiers.
The BinkiBear bag is not intended for use as a toy, especially for children under 4. Always provide close supervision when a child is using a bag that has handles or straps. The BinkiBear bag is intended only as a eco-friendly packaging that allows parents to reuse the bag for their purposes, such as a quick baby bag, or a snack bag.
Using a BinkiBear does not alone reduce the risk of SIDS, but rather provides a better method of using a pacifier in a way that can promote good pacifier use and therefore reduce the risk of SIDS. The APA recommends the use of pacifier during sleep to reduce the risk based on studies. No studies have been done to show evidence of BinkiBear reducing the risk of SIDS in itself, but rather we use a logical progression of facts that if parents can more easily use the pacifier, then they will be able to use it during sleep and therefore receive the benefits of reducing the risk of SIDS.

Q: In the safety information, BinkiBear is called a transitional object. What is a transitional object?
A: “Transitional object” is simply an object that helps baby learn to self-sooth and gain independence.
Q: How is BinkiBear safe for infants in the crib when the American Acadamy of Pediatrics(AAP) clearly says that stuffed toys and blankets and the like are a suffocation hazard?
A: BinkiBear is not safe in the crib until the child is at least 3 months of age and can roll over. These milestones show that the child can remove suffocation hazards, which means they are able to negotiate the skills involved with safely having a teddy bear in the crib. BUT you are the best judge of whether it is time to place an object in the crib. You are the most intimate expert of your child, and will have to make the safety decisions. You will know when your child is ready to hold a teddy bear at night.
Q: How exactly can BinkiBear reduce the risk of SIDS and what does the AAP say about this?
A: The AAP says that the use of a pacifier during sleep can reduce the risk of SIDS. We say that “reducing SIDS is at the forefront of what we are all about” because BinkiBear makes it easier for parents to choose to use the pacifier because they know they have a solution to the problems of the pacifier. This in turn means that they can introduce the pacifier in the crib alone first, and then use BinkiBear in the crib beginning around 3 months of age in the crib, knowing that they have chosen a pacifier method that truly represents the baby's best interest. Why sacrifice the protection a pacifier can provide if there is a way to reduce the adverse impact later deters from making a sound decision for safety in the beginning? Maybe a better way to explain that we all about reducing SIDS, is to say we are all about helping parents choose the best tools and use them in the best way to promote the safety and welfare of their children.
Q: What safety standards does BinkiBear meet?
A: BinkiBear meets EN7 standards, the highest in the world, and meets ASTM requirements. BinkiBear is CPSIA certified as required by Federal law.
Please Note: The BinkiBear bag IS NOT a toy. It is not CPSIA certified, however be rest assured that the materials are all tested to be safe, lead free, and non-hazardous. But the drawstring design does create a strangulation hazard. Although it is adorable to watch toddlers carry their BinkiBear in their little backpack, it is not meant for the toddler, but rather as a re-usable packaging for mom to use for baby and toddler.
Q: Do I have to use the pacifier that came with the BinkiBear?
A: No. Loop style pacifiers are the easiest to use, but all pacifiers can be used with the Patanted loop design of the BinkiBear. Those using the full silicone style pacifier can even place the BinkiBear with the pacifier in the washing machine (air or fluff dry).

BinkiBear was born out of necessity by Jackie Raimondi, an Air Force wife, while overseas in Seoul, Korea. Her son had a bear he loved and adored but he also used a pacifier. Having attempted many times to attach the pacifier to the bear for easy transport, including sliding on the bear's arm, she worked through buttons and Velcro (which could become choking hazards) and came up with the method behind the fantastic BinkiBear product line. This way whether your child is sleeping or doing something else the pacifier and animal are always together. If they drop the animal in their sleep while using the pacifier the bear doesn't go anywhere. If they drop the animal while not using the pacifier and want the soothing comfort of the pacifier then the bear makes it easy to find. This increases the length and quality of nap time and bedtime.
While in Korea, people would often stop Jackie and her son to ask where they had bought the BinkiBear. Of course, at that time it was a home-made product. Explaining that across the language gap wasn't easy! People would often inquire if the bear was purchased at E-Mart, which is a well known department store across Korea. It is like people saying that this product should be available in Wal-Mart®! After that enthusiasm, Jackie finally decided to step forward out of her comfort zone, and become an inventor. Now BinkiBear is taking the ride from “Jackie-mart” to everywhere!
